Remigijus Valiulis
Remigijus Valiulis (born September 20, 1958 in Vilnius , Lithuanian SSR ) is a former Soviet athlete whose specialty was the 400-meter run .
Career
The sprinter won two international medals in 1980:
- At the European Indoor Championships in Sindelfingen in 1980 , he won bronze over 400 meters in 46.75 s behind Nikolai Tschernezki (gold in 46.29 s) and the Czechoslovak Karel Kolář (silver in 46.55 s).
- At the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow he was a member of the Soviet team in the 4-by-400-meter relay , which in the line-up of Valiulis, Mikhail Linge , Nikolai Chernetsky and Viktor Markin narrowly preceded the gold medal in 3: 01.1 minutes the GDR (silver in 3: 01.3 min) and Italy (bronze in 3: 04.3 min) won. The team benefited from the US absence, which boycotted the Moscow Games.
In the individual competitions over 400 meters, Valiulis did not start. Although he was barely 25 years old, he was unable to take part in the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles because his country boycotted these games.
