Route of industrial culture - Erzbahn-Emscherbruch

Erzbahn Emscherbruch is the name of theme route 8 of the Route of Industrial Culture .

The route consists of two parts, which have been connected with the Grimberger Sichel , a curved bridge over the Rhine-Herne Canal (RHK) , since 2009 :

  • the former works and colliery railway ore railway between the Bochumer Verein (today Westpark and Jahrhunderthalle) and the Grimberg harbor at the RHK in Gelsenkirchen-Bismarck on the border with Herne-Wanne . The original ore railway line is approx. 9 km long.
  • the Emscherbruch north of the RHK with stations on the canal and the dumps Hoheward and Hoppenbruch.

In 2011 and 2020 the Ruhr Regional Association changed its route, the changes are shown in italics .

In 2020 the Köln-Mindener Eisenbahnbrücke station was removed from the route.
