The SG Aumund-Vegesack (SAV) is a sports club from the north district of the city of Bremen .

The sports club's departments include badminton , gymnastics , soccer , handball , swimming , boxing , table tennis , sport fishing , judo , karate and athletics . Since 1970 there has also been a brass orchestra with over 40 members within the club. The association has over 2000 members, the first chairman is Volker Beringer.

Soccer department

The club's soccer department has a grass pitch and an artificial turf pitch at Vegesack train station. In 2013 the department had around 400 members. After the Second World War , the footballers played temporarily in the amateur league Bremen , the second highest division at the time. In 2013 the club played in the Bremen League . He plays his home games at the Vegesack stadium. In the 2012/13 season they won the Bremen Lotto Cup , which entitles them to participate in the first main round of the DFB Cup in the following season . Against the Bundesliga club TSG 1899 Hoffenheim they kept a 0-0 up to the break, before the Hoffenheim team were able to prevail very clearly with 9-0.

Karate department

The karate department, with over 200 members, is one of the strongest departments in the club and in the Bremen state association.

Swimming department

The swimming department of the club houses around 450 members (as of April 2016), making it the largest swimming club in Bremen-Nord. The department is one of the most successful clubs in the state of Bremen and offers not only qualified competitive swimming but also a popular popular sports track.

In 2012, the swimmers of the SAV won four medals at the North German class championships and sent two athletes to the German class championships. A year later, a club record was set: 14 SAV swimmers took part in the North German Championships (NDM) and two athletes in the German championships. Another club record was set in 2014: Six Vegesack swimmers qualified for the German year-old championships. In 2015 the SAV swimming department counted 13 NDM participants and three Vegesackers drove to the German class championships. In addition, the people of Northern Bremen won numerous regional championship titles at the championships in the state of Bremen.
