Salih Özcan (born January 11, 1998 in Cologne ) is a German football player . He is under contract with 1. FC Köln and is a multiple junior national player.

Career

In the club

At the age of nine, Özcan moved from SC West Cologne to the youth team at 1. FC Cologne . With the club's U17 he was on the field 48 times in the B-Juniors Bundesliga West and scored 25 goals. Later with the U-19 he played 18 times in the A-Juniors Bundesliga West.

As a U19 player, he made his debut for Cologne's second team in the Regionalliga West on January 31, 2016. Özcan first played in the Bundesliga on September 21, 2016 in the away game against FC Schalke 04 , when he came on for Yūya Ōsako in the 82nd minute . In this game he prepared the goal for the 3-1 final result by Simon Zoller .

In 2017, the DFB awarded Özcan the Fritz Walter Gold Medal as the best U19 junior player.

For the 2019/20 season, Özcan extended his contract to June 30, 2021 after the return of Effzeh and moved to Holstein Kiel for a year on loan at the end of August 2019 . After the loan deal ended, Özcan returned to Cologne.

National team

Özcan has been active in the DFB's junior team since the U15. He last made his debut in the German U21 on September 5, 2019 .

On June 7, 2013, Özcan was involved in the rescue of an eleven-year-old boy who got under a tram on his bicycle.
