He made four appearances in the UEFA Champions League in which he scored one goal.

Return to the Bundesliga

At the beginning of February 2015 Schürrle returned to the Bundesliga and signed a contract with VfL Wolfsburg that ran until 2019. With the team he won the DFB Cup in the final against Borussia Dortmund on May 30, 2015, and thus his first club title. At the end of the season, Chelsea won the English championship, for which Schürrle was also awarded a medal. Via London to Moscow and end of career

For the 2018/19 season, Schürrle switched to the Premier League promoted FC Fulham for two years on loan . For the Londoners, the offensive player completed 24 league and one league cup games, but could not fight for a regular place at any time. The loan contract was only valid for the Premier League and ended after the relegation of Fulham FC, which has been mathematically determined since the beginning of April 2019, at the end of the 2018/19 season.

Schürrle was released from work for Borussia Dortmund at the beginning of July 2019 and at the end of the month switched to the Russian first division club Spartak Moscow on loan for the 2019/20 season . In mid-April 2020, Spartak announced within the seasonal break ordered due to the global COVID-19 pandemic that it would not use the purchase option contained in the loan agreement. Schürrle left Spartak when his contract ended on June 30, 2020 and by then had played in 13 league games (9 times from the start) in which he had scored a goal. Since the end of the season was postponed to the end of July due to the season break, he did not play the season to the end. He then agreed with Borussia Dortmund to terminate his contract, which ran until June 30, 2021, and ended his career at the age of 29.
