Niklas Stark comes from Ipsheim in Central Franconia and was a member of the local FSV there from an early age. At the age of seven he went to the larger TSV Neustadt / Aisch in the district town a few kilometers away . He played in the one year older age group and when his older brother moved to 1. FC Nürnberg in 2004 , their youth coach Reinhold Hintermaier Niklas Stark suggested that they also do a trial session there. He was accepted and then played from the E2 youth on in the offspring of the FCN. His regular position is in the central defensive midfield.

1. FC Nuremberg

Stark achieved the greatest sporting success in the FCN youth team in 2012 with the U17 as champions of the B youth division south / south west . The following year he was the captain of the U19 team and at the age of 17 took part in the professional team's winter training camp with two other young players. He then signed a long-term contract as a licensed player until 2016. In the winter preparation against Sporting Lokeren and two months later against FC Ingolstadt , he played two test matches with the professionals. Towards the end of the season, when there wasn’t much going on for the first team, he was allowed to go to the away game at TSG Hoffenheim on April 27, 2013 . At halftime, Markus Feulner stayed injured in the dressing room and Stark made his professional debut as his replacement. In the following home game against Bayer 04 Leverkusen he was in the starting line-up for the first time. Another use for almost the full playing time followed on the last day of the season. Through his appearances in the first team, he missed the last two games of the U19 team, which relegated without their captain from the junior Bundesliga.

Hertha BSC

After the fourth match day of the second division season 2015/16, Stark moved to Bundesliga club Hertha BSC . He signed a contract valid until 2019.

Stark made his debut on September 12, 2015 in a 2-1 win over VfB Stuttgart when he came on for Salomon Kalou in the 73rd minute of the game . He was able to establish himself quickly in the new team, but was already out in October until the end of the year due to an injury and was not back in the team until February 2016. He scored his first Bundesliga goal for Hertha on March 11, 2016, when he scored 2-0 against FC Schalke 04 . In the following seasons he was also part of the regular eleven and also made his first European appearances when Hertha was able to qualify twice for the Europa League , but both times dropped out of the competition early. At Hertha he sometimes plays in the defensive midfield , but often also as a central defender .

National team

In autumn 2011, Niklas Stark was invited to a screening course for the U17 national team in Kaiserau . In November he was called up to an international match in Azerbaijan and made his debut in the national shirt. In May of the following year he was part of the team that in Slovenia Vice European Champion was where he came in the five European Championship games once used. Then he was taken over to the U18 by coach Horst Hrubesch , where he was also used at regular intervals. Niklas Stark took part in the U21 European Championship in Poland in 2017 . With the 1-0 final victory against Spain , the German U21 team became European champions on June 30, 2017 in Krakow .

Stark was nominated for the first time for the senior national team for the friendly match against the Serbian national team on the 20th and the Euro 2020 qualifier against the Netherlands on March 24th, 2019 . However, injuries initially prevented his debut.
