Sarah Pillsbury

Sarah Kimball Pillsbury , married Kletter (born February 20, 1951 in New York City ) is an American film producer .

Live and act

Sarah Pillsbury was born in New York and grew up in the city of Wayzata , Minnesota . Until 1969 she attended the Concord Academy in Massachusetts . She then completed a degree at Yale University , which she graduated with a BA in 1974 . She then moved to Los Angeles and studied at UCLA Film School . In 1976 she co-founded and long-time contributor to the Liberty Hill Foundation, which promotes progressive grassroots activists and organizations in Los Angeles.

Pillsbury first appeared in the film industry as an associate producer of the award-winning documentary The California Reich , a film about neo-Nazis in California. In 1979 she produced the short film drama Board and Care , for which she and director Ron Ellis received an Oscar . The short film is about two young people with Down syndrome who want to have a love affair.

From 1980 Pillsbury worked with Midge Sanford . In 1984 they founded the film production company Sanford / Pillsbury Productions and together produced nine feature films. Her most successful co-productions include the comedy Susan… Desperately Wanted, starring Rosanna Arquette and Madonna, and the drama Das Messer am Ufer .

Pillsbury lives in Venice , Los Angeles. She is married to Richard Kletter. The marriage produced a daughter and a son.
