The satellite city in Düren , North Rhine-Westphalia , is an area of the Düren-Ost district that has been planned on the drawing board. The satellite city is also popularly known as the satellite district or Sattes for short .

At the beginning of the 1960s, the site of the former brickworks in the eastern part of the city of Düren, east of Gneisenaustrasse, was built on. Two-story cellars were built in the clay pit, on which six-story houses were built. In addition to these two tall houses, several two-story apartment blocks were built. The satellite city is supplied with heat from a small central heating plant .

In the area of the development, a row of shops was built, which included a restaurant, a hairdresser's, a grocery store, an ice cream parlor, a fish shop, a doctor's practice (general medicine), a bakery, a radio-television shop and a newspaper kiosk. A petrol station was also set up. This constellation has been changed several times over the years.

By 2015 the infrastructure had changed as follows:

No longer existing areas:

  • Grocery retail
  • Fish trade
  • Radio television shop
  • Gas station
  • Schlecker drugstore

  • an Italian pizzeria / ice cream parlor
  • an Italian cultural association / restaurant

For a short time there was a travel agency and a snack bar on the premises. In the building of the bakery, which can now be found in the beverage market, there is a small clothing store.

Every three weeks a wandering seller stands in the parking lot in front of the beverage market to sell clothes and accessories.

There has been a rubber sports facility next to the primary school since the 1980s. The facility has a running track (approx. 100 m), four goals, two basketball hoops and two long jump lanes. There is also a large meadow, a separate area with another small piece of meadow, a table tennis table, a football table and two benches with a table.

A kindergarten , children's playgrounds , a soccer field (grass), a primary school and an allotment garden are also available. Since 2004 there has also been a play area for children on the premises of the primary school. The school playground may only be used as a playground by children under the age of 12 and outside of school hours.

The Düren airship hangar was located in front of the brickworks at this location . The Neue Friedhof Düren-Ost borders directly on the satellite town . The area is connected to the city center by the buses of the Düren district railway .
