history

Until 1969, broadcasting was a municipality in the Office Verl of the circle Wiedenbrück . In 1961 Sende had 4,484 inhabitants and an area of ​​23.94 km² at that time. On January 1, 1970, broadcast was split:

  • The south-eastern part was combined with the previously independent communities of Schloß Holte and Stukenbrock to form the new community (now the town) of Schloß Holte-Stukenbrock .
  • The western part, along with other communities, was used to form the new community of Verl and since then has formed the district of Sende and has 336 inhabitants.
  • The north-eastern part ( Wilhelmsdorf ) was incorporated into the city of Sennestadt (on January 1, 1973 in Bielefeld). This former part of Sendes, together with Eckardtsheim, forms a closed place within the Bielefeld district of Sennestadt.

sports clubs

One of the most famous clubs in the Gütersloh district is the Schwarz Weiß Sende sports club, the home club of Bundesliga player Dieter Brei . Especially in the football category, all age groups have great successes, which they have to prove again and again at local rivals VFB Schloß Holte.
