The Weinsberg transmitter in the Heilbronner Mountains in the urban area of Weinsberg in the Baden-Württemberg district of Heilbronn is a broadcasting system of the Südwestrundfunk (formerly the Süddeutscher Rundfunk ) for broadcasting radio and television signals that was put into operation on July 1, 1976 . A 70 meter high reinforced concrete tower serves as the antenna carrier.

Geographical location

The Weinsberg transmitter is located on the north summit ( 301.7  m above sea  level ) of the Galgenberg , a 312  m high elevation of the Heilbronn Mountains between Weinsberg in the east and Heilbronn in the west as part of its south summit . The transmitter is located in the Weinsberg area around 250 m east of the north summit in Gewann Bürg with the adjacent Gewann Schnarrenberg to the east at an altitude of around 295  m .

Digital television (DVB-T2)

Regular operation of DVB-T2 HD began on October 24, 2018 . Since then, the programs of ARD ( SWR -Mux) and ZDF have been broadcasting in the DVB-T2 standard in HEVC video coding and in Full HD resolution. The operator Freenet TV broadcasts three multiplexes.

The DVB-T2 HD -Ausstrahlungen are simulcast (Single Frequency Network) with other transmitter sites.
