Shantou ( Chinese  汕頭 市  /  汕头 市 , Pinyin Shàntóu shì , Jyutping Saan 3 tau 4 Si 5 , obsolete according to Post Swatow ) is a district-free city in the province of Guangdong in the People's Republic of China . Shantou is located on the South China Sea on the border with Fujian Province . The Tropic of Cancer runs through the city. An enlarged globe is set up as a reference at the following point: ⊙ .
