Shantou ( Chinese  汕頭 市  /  汕头 市 , Pinyin Shàntóu shì , Jyutping Saan 3 tau 4 Si 5 , obsolete according to Post Swatow ) is a district-free city in the province of Guangdong in the People's Republic of China .
