Sherman brothers
The brothers Robert Bernard Sherman (born December 19, 1925 in New York City , † March 5, 2012 in London ) and Richard Morton Sherman (born June 12, 1928 in New York City) were an American composer duo of the mid-1950s until the early 1970s.
Life and style
They are best known for their collaboration with Walt Disney , for whose films they mainly wrote songs and occasionally film scores . The most successful were the film and later stage musical Mary Poppins and the musical cartoon The Jungle Book . They also wrote the songs for the film musicals Tschitti Tschitti Bäng Bäng , Aristocats and The daredevil witch in her flying bed .
The Sherman brothers composed swing , jazz , country and vaudeville numbers. Most of their oeuvre was created for film and stage musicals.
