The solar eclipse of February 26, 1998 was a total solar eclipse, the central zone of which ran almost exclusively over the oceans. On land, only the northern Galápagos Islands , the Central American land bridge near Panama and small islands in the Caribbean were recorded. After all, the few land areas were in the middle of the totality zone, so that the few land areas (apart from the weather) had ideal visibility conditions.
