The partial solar eclipse of July 1, 2000 was the second of four partial solar eclipses in 2000. It was only observed in the South Pacific and southern South America . This eclipse belongs to the expiring Saros cycle 117, which already four periods later in August 2072 does not allow any more eclipses. Because of this, there will be another partial solar eclipse of the young Saros 155 at the end of this month. It is, however, modest and takes place in the north polar region.
