production
Due to the innovations at the beginning of the season, the story originally planned as the season opening was postponed again and finally realized in the middle of the season in the form of the episodes The Front ( Homefront ) and The Lost Paradise ( Paradise Lost ).
A court sentenced Paramount to pay $ 100,000 to the film studio United Artists , the rights to the brand James Bond holds and the similarities of the plot of the episode Our Man Bashir ( Our Man Bashir ) to James Bond looked violates these rights.
The storyline in which Kira carries the O'Briens baby to term was used to hide Nana Visitors' pregnancy.
Reviews
“ Despite all the innovations, I don't want to get really excited in the first half of the season. Many episodes seem to suffer too much from being limited to three quarters of an hour and one is downright disappointed when a series like DS9, which convinces with its complexity elsewhere, shies away from actually making drastic changes and instead at the end of the episode but everything is the same again. This is particularly noticeable with an episode like 'Reunited' [...]. However [...] not every story goes the easiest way. For example, if Dr. Bashir is looking for a cure for a hereditary virus among the population of a strange planet in the episode 'Hope', then the solution here is not that he, as an unreservedly radiant hero, achieves a completely natural and predictable victory. [...] Action-packed episodes alternate with experimental and story-wise interesting episodes, but there is often too little time for many introduced and overarching storylines. As a result, this season is a little less balanced than the previous ones; however, many very high-class episodes compensate for this. "

“ The arrival of Worf indeed marks the second beginning of the series, and also the point at which it really shouldn't be missed, because from here 'Deep Space Nine' is simply the highest quality piece of television in the entire Trek universe - if not the whole SciFi area. "
