Stojanka Novaković

Stojanka Novaković ( kyr. Стојанка Новаковић ; born June 4, 1972 in Perlez near Zrenjanin in SFR Yugoslavia ), stage name: Stoja ( Стоја ), is a Serbian turbo-folk singer . It is popular in the Western Balkans and Bulgaria .

biography

Early years

Novaković grew up in Perlez, which is in the Zrenjanin administrative district , where she lived until she was 25 years old. In her early years she became interested in music, which is why she sang in the school choir and devoted herself to folklore .

Career

Novaković began singing as an amateur in local discos in 1987. In 1997 she recorded her first album at the production studio Lazarević Produktion. Her debut album Kako je meni sada was released in 1998. It was a great success, thanks to which she was able to sign with the Grand produkcija label . Her second album Ćiki, ćiki came out in 1999. It contained several hits, the most successful was Ćiki, ćiki .

She worked with her friend and songwriter Stevan Simeunović on almost every song since the beginning of her career. Stoja released the EP Osveta with two songs in 2006, on which the band Južni Vetar was represented. The song Revolucija ("Revolution") and the music video were released in October 2010.

Her tenth album Nije da Nije (“Not that it isn't”) was released in 2013 by the BN Music studio. This was followed by several singles such as Bela cigankaOla olaTakvog dečka hoću jaLila lila and Ti brate imaš sve .

Private life

Novaković married at the age of 16 and became a mother at 17. Her husband lost his life in a car accident when he was 19. Stoja became a grandmother at the age of 33 when her son Milan had their first child.

Since 2007 she lives in Bežanijska kosa in the neighborhood of Novi Beograd . In 2009 she married the architect Igor Jovanović.

Stoja's favorite singer is Šemsa Suljaković , which is why she often sings her songs at concerts or television appearances.
