The Taylor County is a county in the US -amerikanischen State Iowa . In 2010 , the county had 6,317 people and a population density of 4.6 people per square kilometer. By 2013 the population decreased to 6161. The county seat is Bedford .
geography
The county is located in southwest Iowa, borders Missouri to the south and has an area of 1,385 square kilometers, of which two square kilometers are water.
The Platte River , a left tributary of the Missouri River, flows through the southeast of Taylor County .

history
Taylor County was formed in 1847 from former parts of Page County. It was named after Zachary Taylor (1784-1850), a general and twelfth President of the United States (1849-1850).
In 1851, a separate administration was set up for Taylor County in Bedford. After the administration offices and rooms for court hearings were housed in private homes in the first few years, a separate court and administration building was built in Bedford in 1864.
In 1891 the present building was built from bricks. This was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.
