The Thuringian State Media Authority (TLM) is the state media authority of the State of Thuringia .
tasks
The TLM is responsible for the state approval of private radio and television broadcasters based in Thuringia. In addition, she oversees compliance with media law rules on the protection of minors and advertising , to preserve diversity of opinion and the program principles. Among other things, she is responsible for the supervision of telemedia and controls e.g. B. Online media with regard to youth protection regulations. The specific tasks of the TLM are regulated by the Thuringian State Media Act , the State Broadcasting Treaty and the State Treaty on Youth Media Protection.

Organizationally, the TLM is a self-governing body under public law . Legal supervision is carried out by the Thuringian State Chancellery as the highest state authority . The TLM is financed by part of the broadcasting fee incurred in Thuringia .
The organs of the TLM are the assembly and the director. According to the corporatist model, the assembly consists of representatives of the parties represented in the Thuringian state parliament and representatives of the organizations named in the law.

history
The establishment was founded on November 5, 1991 as the Thuringian State Authority for Private Broadcasting (TLR). The seat was initially in Arnstadt . Victor Henle was the first director from 1992 to 2007. In February 1993, Antenne Thüringen, the first radio program licensed by the TLR, went on air. On December 13, 1996, the name was changed to Thuringian State Media Authority (TLM). At the turn of the year 2003/2004 the company moved to Steigerstrasse in Erfurt. At the same time, the office of the commission for the protection of minors in the media was established there, and in 2013 it was integrated into the joint office of the state media authorities in Berlin.
