Werner Pidde
Werner Pidde (born July 28, 1953 in Waltershausen ) is a German politician ( SPD ). He was a member of the Thuringian state parliament from 1994 to 2019, where he was chairman of the SPD parliamentary group from December 2013 until the 2014 state election .
Life and work
Werner Pidde is the son of a seamstress and a locksmith. He is married and has three children. After attending the Polytechnic High School in Waltershausen (1959–67), he graduated from the Extended High School (EOS) in 1971 with the Abitur. He then made the military service and began in 1973 to study for graduate teacher of chemistry and mathematics at the University of Education Erfurt / Mulhouse . From 1977 to 1980 he received his doctorate with the work studies the acceptor behavior of selected cobalt (II) - and nickel (II) halides and pseudohalides Dr. rer. nat. (Natural sciences). Following this, Pidde worked as a teacher at the EOS Schnepfenthal (today Salzmannschule ) and became a lecturer at the in 1981Technical college for finance in Gotha - the only one of its kind in the GDR. From 1990 to 1994 he was first alderman of the city of Waltershausen and held the function of finance, social and school department.
politics
In early 1990 Pidde joined the Social Democratic Party in the GDR (SDP). In 1994 he became a member of the Thuringian state parliament and financial policy spokesman for the SPD faction. In the third (1999 to 2004) and fifth electoral periods (2009 to 2013) he was Parliamentary Managing Director of the SPD parliamentary group. In 2004 he became the parliamentary group's financial and media policy spokesman.
After Uwe Höhn's appointment as Thuringian Minister of Economics, Pidde was elected as his successor as chairman of the SPD parliamentary group on December 18, 2013. After the state elections in Thuringia in 2014 , Matthias Hey took over this office. On June 26, 2019, he was re-elected as the successor to Dagmar Becker as Parliamentary Managing Director of the SPD parliamentary group. He did not run for the 2019 state election and left the state parliament.
Political and social functions
Pidde is a member of the district council of the Gotha district and is currently (2019) chairman of the SPD parliamentary group. He was also a member of the state executive committee of the SPD Thuringia until 2014 and was district chairman of his party from 2014 to the beginning of 2016. In addition, he briefly had a seat in the red-green city council faction in his hometown of Waltershausen . Pidde is a member of the board of directors of Kreissparkasse Gotha , a deputy member of the board of directors of Helaba and a member of the assembly of the state media authority .
