The Voice of Italy (known as The Voice ) is an Italian casting show based on the Dutch format The Voice by John de Mol . It has aired on Rai 2 since 2013 (with a 2017 hiatus).
production
After Rai 2 gave up X Factor in 2011 (the show was then continued by Sky Uno ), attempts were made to reissue Star Academy for 2011/12 (an edition had already been broadcast in Italy as Operazione Trionfo in 2002 ), but without success. The Rai then opted for The Voice of Holland format , which had already been successfully exported to other countries. The first edition started in spring 2013 on Rai 2 and took over the broadcasting slot of the reality show L'isola dei famosi . After two successful editions (from which the internationally acclaimed Suor Cristina emerged ), the ratings dropped sharply and in 2016 the end of the show after four seasons was announced. Instead, the Rai wanted to use Italian Idol , an Italian version of Pop Idol , which was soon abandoned. The Voice returned to television in 2018 .
concept
The competitors appear in the blind auditions behind the coaches, who sit on red swivel chairs and only decide based on their voice to include the candidate in their team by turning their chair. The coaches are also responsible for helping the candidates on their team improve their singing skills. During the performances, the singers are accompanied by a live band.
The show consists of four phases (only three in the first season):
- Blind auditions
- The Battles
- Knockout (KO)
- Live show
A finalist will be chosen from each team during the program until the “best voice in Italy” is finally chosen in the final. The vote takes place via televoting of the audience. The winner receives a record deal with Universal Music Italia worth 200,000 euros.
