The men's season began on August 17, 2018, the main round ended on March 17, 2019. The top four teams after the end of the regular season took part in the play-off rounds to determine the German champions. Only TTC indeland Jülich wanted to move up from the second division , which secured the eighth place it needed on the last match day and thus increased the TTBL of the 2018/19 season to eleven teams with a target strength of twelve. The eleventh-placed team should be relegated, but could remain in the league due to a lack of promotion candidates.

The game mode provided for a double for the first time since the 2010/11 season, which was played as the decisive game with a score of 2: 2.
