Tom Wax (bourgeois Thomas Wedel ; born September 19, 1972 in Jugenheim ) is a DJ , producer and remixer in the field of electronic dance music .

Life

Tom Wax began his activity in 1988 and two years later he appeared as a resident DJ in the techno club in Frankfurt's Dorian Gray .

From 1990 he also appeared as a producer and launched projects such as Microbots, Arpeggiators, Psycho Drums, DJ Tom & Norman, Electric Nature and AWeX and published on labels such as R&S Records , Overdrive , Harthouse , Plastic City and Low Spirit . He achieved great success in the club scene as AWeX with It's Our Future and Back on Plastic .

After brief work in the A&R department at Music Research (1992) and Harthouse / EyeQ Records (1993), he expanded his sphere of activity as a producer over the years to include his own record label (with an affiliated booking agency and music publisher) Phuture Wax in 1995 and the radio show " Sounds ”on the Hessian youth radio station You FM (2004–2009), where he has been one of the resident DJs of the“ Clubnight ” since 2000 . From January 2010 to December 2013 he had his own new radio show "Phuture Sounds" on the online radio station Big City Beats FM.

He was resident DJ from Techno Club of Dorian Gray at the Frankfurt airport between 1991-1993 and 1998-2000 and the Poison Club in Dusseldorf from 1996 to 2000.

In addition to productions with Marusha , Dr. Motte , Talla 2XLC , Mijk van Dijk , CJ Bolland , Michael Wells , Kai Tracid , Mike Dearborn, Marshall Jefferson , Rummy Sharma, Ian Oliver, Boris Alexander , Franksen, Roy Ströbel alias Strobe, Terry Lee Brown Jr. , The Timewriter , Simon Fava, Dan Hillson, Bill Brown, Jan Jacarta and JamX & DeLeon, he also remixed artists such as Erasure , Jam & Spoon , The Shamen , Hardfloor , Steve Pointdexter, The Hypnotist , Sparks , Tomcraft , Mesh , Cosmic Baby and John Starlight . Since 2000 Tom Wax has concentrated on his productions as a solo artist and has published various tracks on his labels Phuture Wax & Pretty Girls Don't Dance.

On May 17, 2007, Wax performed Antonín Dvořák's 9th Symphony as a guest musician with the conductor Paavo Järvi and the Hessian Radio Symphony Orchestra at the Music Discovery Project, together with Boris Alexander .
