Toni the Assi

Toni der Assi (real name Toni Latinović; born January 19, 1978 near Frankfurt am Main as Anton Latinović ) is a German rapper of Serbian descent whose style is based on the American hip-hop of Public Enemy .

Early youth

Toni is the son of Serbian immigrants who came to Germany from what was then Yugoslavia in the early 1970s . He was born in 1978 near Frankfurt am Main and has an older brother and sister. His family moved to Mannheim a year after Tonis was born . Toni does not have a school leaving certificate. In the 1990s he was in various breakdance crews , such as the " Unique Wizzards " and " Rocking Till Death ".

During this time Toni also got to know hip-hop artists such as Torch , Toni L , Boulevard Bou and some from the former Aggro Berlin label. He also made the acquaintance of artists such as the Flying Steps and Advanced Chemistry . He has lived in Zurich since 2011 .

The abbreviation “Assi” stands for “ asocial ”. Through the choice of text and themes in his music, Toni tries to introduce "political and subversive " rap in the style of American models and French models like Sefyu into hip-hop. The producers he has worked with include: B. the " Rocko Beats ".

His texts mostly consist of a string of partial sentences and double rhymes . The content of the texts mostly describes his anti-subversive attitudes such as B. “Father state son of a bitch” (In the name of the people) and life in what, in his opinion, is socially disadvantaged German lower class .

Indictment and verdict of sedition

After his video for the single "Staatsfeind" Toni was reported by the MP Volker Beck for insulting and inciting people. On the basis of text passages such as B. " Gay pedophile child molesters - acquittal in the name of the people does not work, headshot , gas chamber done" Toni was called a "hate singer" in many homosexual forums. The complaint and the resulting consequences brought Toni private problems and after several house searches, an arrest and appeals , Toni was finally sentenced to a fine of 8,000 euros, which he said he paid to the SOS Children's Village .

Others

Toni the Assi has been a member of the Black Jackets gang since members of the street gang appeared in his videos. However, he is now one of the United Tribuns .

Toni der Assi should not be confused with Voll Assi Toni , a Youtube comedian from Offenbach, who from mid-2006 onwards reported in amateur short films about his sexual experiences with numerous women in drastic verbal contributions.
