Tschahār Mahāl and Bachtiyāri ( Persian استان چهارمحال و بختياری) is one of the 31 provinces of Iran . The capital is Shahr-e Kord .
947,763 people live in the province (2016 census). The area of the province extends to 16,332 square kilometers. The population density is 58 inhabitants per square kilometer. Until 1953, Chahār Mahāl and Bachtiyāri was part of Esfahan Province .
geography
The province of Tschahār Mahāl and Bachtiyāri is located in the southwestern interior of the country and is enclosed by the provinces of Chuzestan , Kohgiluye and Boyer Ahmad and Esfahan.
Important cities are Schahr-e Kord , Schahrekian, Hafschedschan, Borudschen, Lordegan, Farsan, Ardal, Farrochschahr, Naaftsch, Saman, Dschuneghan, Ben, Gandoman, Boldaji and Faradonbeh.
In addition to Persian, the regional Iranian languages Bakhtiar and Lori are spoken in the province .
