history

The Princeton , named after the Battle of Princeton in New Jersey during the American Revolutionary War , was commissioned by Ingalls Shipbuilding in 1983 and laid down there in 1986. The launch took place on October 2, 1987, the commissioning with the United States Navy took place in 1989.

The Princeton made its first mission during Operation Desert Storm in the Persian Gulf. On February 18, 1991 the ship ran into two sea ​​mines . Despite severe damage to the stern of the ship, the Princeton was able to stay on station for 30 hours until it was relieved.
