The University of Paris VII ( Université Paris Diderot ) was a public university in Paris . The university was founded in 1971 and in 1994 took the name of enlightener Denis Diderot to emphasize its multidisciplinary orientation. Until 2007, the main campus was Campus de Jussieu in the 5th arrondissement . From January 2007, the university gradually moved completely to a new campus on the left of the Seine in the 13th arrondissement at the Bibliothèque François Mitterrand .
Since the beginning of 2019, the university has merged with the University of Paris V to form the Université de Paris .
