action

A spring day begins. The trees are awakening, the flowers are washing themselves in the lake and doing morning exercise, mushrooms are springing up and a millipede begins its day's work. While a deciduous tree man cautiously wakes a deciduous tree woman, an older tree stump is grumpy to be woken up. Vultures sit on its dead branches, bats wake up in it and an animal skull lies nearby.

The deciduous tree man begins to ensnare the deciduous tree woman with harp music . While she is flattered and pulls away from him, the old tree stump sneaks up and tries to kidnap her. The tree man intervenes and saves the tree woman. There is a stick fight between the two rivals, in which the tree stump is defeated. He takes revenge, starts a fire and sets parts of the area on fire. Horrified, the mushrooms retreat into the ground, the bluebells sound the alarm, small conifer sprouts seek protection from their mother, while other flowers attempt to extinguish them. Birds eventually manage to pierce the clouds, causing rain to put out the fire. The tree stump fell victim to its own deed: the fire caught and burned it.

The deciduous tree man and the deciduous tree woman remained unharmed. He asked for her hand and she accepted his proposal. As a wedding ring, he slips the rolled-up millipede over her twig finger, which the deciduous woman enthusiastically glows. In the end, a rainbow crowns the wedding.
