Waldhambach is a municipality in the Südliche Weinstrasse district in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the Verbandsgemeinde Annweiler am Trifels , within which it is the second smallest local community in terms of population.
geography
location
The place is on the eastern edge of the Wasgau , as the southern part of the Palatinate Forest and the adjoining northern part of the Vosges are also called, between Annweiler am Trifels and Bad Bergzabern . Neighboring municipalities are - clockwise - to Landau belonging exclave Wollmesheimer Forest , Eschbach , Göcklingen , Klingenmünster , Münchweiler am Klingbach , Waldrohrbach and exclave of Ilbesheim bei Landau in der Pfalz .
Waters
The municipality is traversed by the Kaiserbach , which flows into the Klingbach as Elsenbach near Steinweiler ; In the middle of the settlement area the Wolfsbach flows into it from the left .

history
In the 13th century the community was under the sovereignty of Count Emich IV from Leiningen . Until the end of the 18th century, Waldhambach belonged to the Madenburg rule .
From 1798 to 1814, when the Palatinate was part of the French Republic (until 1804) and then part of the Napoleonic Empire , the municipality was incorporated into the canton of Landau . In 1814 she moved to the canton of Annweiler . A year later it was added to Austria . Just one year later, the place, like the entire Palatinate, changed to the Kingdom of Bavaria . From 1818 to 1862 the "Wald-Hambach" - as it was spelled at the time - belonged to the Bergzabern Land Commissioner ; The Bergzabern district office emerged from this .
From 1939 the place was part of the Bergzabern district . After the Second World War , Waldhambach became part of the then newly formed state of Rhineland-Palatinate within the French occupation zone .
