The BetVictor Welsh Open 2014 was a snooker tournament of the Snooker Main Tour of the 2013/14 season . It was held from February 19 to March 2, 2014 at the Newport Center in Newport , Wales . Defending champion was the Scot Stephen Maguire , who lost 4: 3 to Joel Walker in the round of 16 .

The tournament was won by Ronnie O'Sullivan . In the final he defeated Ding Junhui with 9: 3 frames , where he played a maximum break in the last frame , the last red and the very last black ball he punched with the left.
