The 1998/99 Nordic Combined World Cup season began on November 21, 1998 in Rovaniemi, Finland, and ended on March 21, 1999 in Zakopane, Poland . During the season, the Nordic World Ski Championships were held in Ramsau am Dachstein ( Austria ) from February 19 to 28, 1999 . With 17 decisions, the number of World Cup races was again significantly increased.

The Norwegian Bjarte Engen Vik won the overall World Cup again. With his nine World Cup victories in one season, he also set a new record. In addition, Hannu Manninen was particularly convincing at the beginning of the season when he won five of the first seven races. For Ladislav Rygl , third in the overall standings , the only win of the season in Falun, Sweden, was also the first World Cup success in his career.

With his third place in Lahti , Finland , Sebastian Haseney ensured the first German podium in more than six years. Felix Gottwald was again able to win five podium places for Austria , but still had to wait for his first World Cup success.
