The foundation stone was laid on December 22, 2005, and construction work was completed in autumn 2007. The planning and construction management was in the hands of the same specialists as in 2000 and 2004. Not only the architecture is based on the MLB , but also when it comes to the equipment, the people in charge used equipment that had been tried and tested in the MLB. Among other things, the same grass was laid as in the MLB stadiums and the special ash covering in the infield has also proven itself in the MLB. In view of the environmental policy demands of the Olympic Games, geothermal and solar technology systems as well as a rainwater recycling system were installed for energy supply .

The playing areas were aligned in the same way, with both the center field facing northeast from the home plate , the third base line running north, the first base line Line to the east. The main field offered space for 12,000 spectators, field 2 had 3000 seats.
