Zach Lund

Zach Lund (born March 22, 1979 in Salt Lake City ) is an American skeleton rider .

Zach Lund made his World Cup debut in a race in Nagano in February 2001 , where he finished 21st. In his second race in Calgary in 2002 , he was tenth. From now on he was among the best in the world and almost always made it into the top 10. In the 2006/07 season, he first won his first World Cup race in Park City , later in the season he won a total of four of eight races of the season and in the end also the overall World Cup. The athlete from Salt Lake City took part in world championships three times and was able to improve continuously. In 2003 in Nagano he was ninth, in 2005 in Calgary fifth and in 2007 in St. Moritz he won the bronze medal. Since 2000, he has also won seven America's Cup races.

For the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin , he was disqualified because of a positive test for finasteride after a World Cup in Calgary, where he finished second. This medication is an anti-hair loss drug that Lund, who has suffered from hair loss since he was a teenager, said he was unknowingly taking. The suspension he then imposed was later lifted by the International Court of Justice. At the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver , Zach Lund took 5th place.
