Zeitfunk is a program area in broadcasting . Time radio broadcasts deal with current events, using different journalistic genres such as reports , reports , interviews and commentaries . The television has taken the concept of radio.

Time radio is one of the classic areas of radio ; German broadcasting statistics first list the term in 1932. Many broadcasters have their own radio newsrooms.

One of the oldest life Radio broadcasts that belongs echo time of the Swiss Radio DRS . Since 1945, the program has conveyed "the most important news, reports, reports, interviews and analyzes of current affairs" every day, according to the Swiss broadcaster. RIAS Berlin claims to have established the first time-only broadcasts in Germany. The hr2 time radio program Der Tag was awarded the 2006 Otto Brenner Prize for critical journalism.

Time radio broadcasts often contain verbal contributions and reports, but rarely music. In some radio broadcasts, (instrumental) music is also used as a short separator between two topics. The most well-known time broadcasts in German-speaking countries include:

  • Information in the evening (Deutschlandfunk, daily 6:09 p.m. to 6:40 p.m.)
  • Morning, noon, evening, night and midnight journal ( Ö1 , from 7:00 a.m., from 12:00 p.m., from 6:00 p.m., from 10:00 p.m. and from 12:00 a.m.)
  • Studio 9 ( Deutschlandfunk Kultur , weekdays 5:07 a.m. to 8:59 a.m. & 5:07 p.m. to 6:29 p.m. and Saturdays 6:07 a.m. to 8:59 a.m.)
