This is a list of transport museums throughout the world. Old transportation systems don't disappear, they often become the park and recreational facilities of future generations. Parts of many dismantled trolley systems in the United States for instance, have become trolley museums.

The Hall Institute of Public Policy - New Jersey was founded in 2005 by George Hall,[1] a manager of New York's Clinton Group, a hedge fund specializing in mortgage-backed securities. The Hall Institute was and is a non-partisan, not-for-profit think-tank conceived by Hall as a means of studying public policy independently and without the distraction of partisan politics. Since its inception, the Institute has insisted that its purpose is to make public policy available to as wide a public as possible. Representing the Institute at an award ceremony held in Trenton in 2006, George Hall described this process of making the workings of local government more accessible as "translation".

When the Institute was founded, George Hall hired Michael P. Riccards, a former college president at St. Johns University, New Mexico as executive director and Richard A. Lee [2], former Deputy Communications Director to former New Jersey Governor James E. McGreevey, as Director of Communications.

Public Policy

Opinion articles from the Hall Institute have appeared in several newspapers on the East coast [3], including The New York Times [4] [5]. In 2006 [6] and 2008[7]the Hall Institute has used a debate format, what it calls a "virtual debate", as a way of presenting the views of New Jersey U.S. Senate candidates[8] without the partisan sparring and the neglect of the issues that has been characteristic of similar debates in New Jersey and elsewhere.

The Institute also holds public forums for topics such as government control, possible candidates for senate, and the state's role in the 2008 presidential campaign [9] [10] [11].

The Institute produced one season of public affairs television in 2008 which aired on Mercer County, New Jersey channel 26. In 2006 the Institute published a hardbound journal, The State of the Garden State [12] and in 2007, another journal titled Reaction and Reform in New Jersey [13]. Both were compilations of major papers that the Institute had solicited and commissioned from local scholars on topics ranging from New Jersey health care reform to lowering the levels of poverty in the state's urban areas. The Institute compiled a third volume in 2008, Creating A Common Future: New Jersey and Public Policy [14].
