Need to add "fair use rationale" for all the images on Bill & Ted's Excellent Video Game Adventure

I just found out about this myself, but in addition to the copyright template on each image page, you have to add a "fair use rationale" to each of the images you uploaded. An example can be found here: Arch Rival Box

Question

I have reverted your unexplained edit to Dragon Ball GT. Why are you changing instances of "Doragon Bōru" to "Doragonbōru" and the names of several tracks pertaining to the Dragon Ball OSTs? Please reply on your talk page. Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 01:10, 6 February 2008 (UTC)

Well, it was my impression that when "ドラゴンボール" got romanized it automatically came out "Doragonbōru". Now I know that many words or sentences in katakana and hiragana don't always use blank or period spaces "･" in their text making them look like one long word. But my intention was to imitate the Japanese with the romanji, thus the romanji "Doragonbōru". Now in the English, I will go along with the spelling format as "Dragon Ball" even though others have officially wrote it as "Dragonball" and "DragonBall". To me, this is just like the whole "InuYasha", "Inuyasha", "Inu Yasha" romanization thing.

In other words, you're assuming that ドラゴンボール would be Doragonbōru? Have you even looked at the Japanese wiki translation for Dragon Ball? There is no such thing as spacing in Japanese, so it seems like it can be shown with or without the space as romaji. I'm not sure if the Wikipedia:MOS addresses this. WhisperToMe (talk) 03:37, 6 February 2008 (UTC)

Yes, I have viewed the Japanese Wiki on Dragon Ball a few times and yes they do write the English title as "Dragon Ball", I do not deign this. But that still doesn't change the fact that Dragon Ball's katakana ドラゴンボール when displayed in raw romanji can be romanized as "Doragonbōru". Sarujo (talk) 15:51, 6 February 2008 (UTC)

Well, for the most part I have changed most of the romanji. But there might be a few I missed. Plus I took the liberty to add the romanji in places where there wasn't any at all. I have purposely overlooked the "Legends" article for right now as I want to do an overhaul on that page, so I figured I do that in one swoop. I had to double check those articles, and yes I have made changes where ever it was applied. Now there is still the episode list for all three series to deal with. Oh god, that's going to be a long night there.

Well, Yeah that is the right format. But the only reason why I leave the format as "Doragonbōru Zetto" or "Doragonbōru Jītī" is due to those "geniuses" who appear out of nowhere and simply erase the whole nihongo. I ran into such a problem with the "Burst Limit" artical. I had originaly wrote the romanji as "Doragonbōru Zetto Bāsutorimitto". But the one called "Supergohan1" and some unregestered users keep coming and removing the Burst Limit romanji and just simply replacing it with the English title. Thus turning the template into "Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit (ドラゴンボールZ バーストリミット, Doragonbōru Zetto DragonBall Z: Burst Limit)". I kept reverting this and I added a hidden message asking them to goto the dissusion box and explain why they felt that the romanji didn't belong. So instead of doing this "Supergohan1" reverts the format back and leaves this in the edit summary: "Because the game is called DragonBall Z: Burst Limit". So after fighting it, I desided to just go in and split "Bāsutorimitto" to "Bāsuto Rimitto". Shortly afterwards a line was typed in the artical "OK I get it . . .". In short separating "Zetto" or "Jiti" from the rest of the title's romanji is just to ensure that the nihongo won't get torn up like with the Burst Limit title. I'd rather we follow the guideline than change things to prevent arguements with other editors. Go ahead and combine the kanji, katankana, etc., and if users remove the nihongo, then revert and warn them for vandalism. I'll back you up if needed, just tell me where. Thoughts? Well, I don't have a problem with this. Although I'm not quite sure what the proper protocol for warning a user for vandalism since I've had to to issue it. For right now the articals that need watching over are soundtrack articals with song title that have been known by fanboys by a inaccurate or half translation. Examples of this would be any article that includes the songs "Aitsu wa Son Gokū" and "Akuariumu no Yoru".

I'll get started on the space removal on the Super Complete Collection as Columbia has just posted the tracklist for that album, and it will take the longest to fix up. Sarujo (talk) 00:16, 22 February 2008 (UTC)

Changing Template:vgrelease to Template:flagicon

Concerning your edits to video game articles which change {{vgrelease}} to {{flagicon}}, please be aware that consensus at WP:VG is to use {{vgrelease}} instead of {{flagicon}}, as noted at WP:VG/DATE: "Within the infobox, release dates should be provided using the {{vgrelease}} template. Even if this format is not used, do not use flag icons in the infobox, instead, state the region/country by name or by their 2 or 3-letter country codes." Ok here's the thing, one IP had hidden message stating that pictures conferming said chracters was at the second reference's link. Which is the French Atari website. So I checked it out, and sure enough there were actual screenshots showing some of the confermed characters that are claimed to be featured within the game. I suggest useing the links to the best pics a references for each character for now and and replace them if and when something better popup. Page movement of Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy

I noticed that Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy has been seeing a lot of movement regarding some people's preference of "&" over "and". Yes, most defiantly. The official logo does not recognize any ampersand, so the article should not. Changing an article title into something that doesn't reflect the actual title is vandalism. And yes you can lock an article from being moved. Whether it be from being changed into a particular name or locked from being moved entirely, I'm not sure. But again, I insist on a lockdown. Apparently, it can be locked from being moved entirely. I'm glad you know the procedure for getting it done. I don't think it's vandalism, though. I've seen true page-move vandalism. The Legend of Zelda has been moved no less than three times to something like "Frank's Peepee", with an edit summary like, "This article has been PWNED!" Exclamation points mess up the templates. Even the infoboxes are affected by this when using a second point. Fortunately for that you can use the "nowiki" function to fix the infoboxes, but that only works on the infoboxes. Sarujo (talk) 04:22, 3 September 2008 (UTC)

Megatron and Starscream reverts

I added some information to the talk pages on why I made the changes, and would like to hear your input too. I'd like to find a happy medium on the editing. I'd like to keep the section titles of "Transformers: Generation 1" so they stay consistant with other TF articles, and keep the info on the G1 character seperate from the rest of the page, by keeping all that info on the other Megatrons and Starscream out of that section. Well, I find it very fortuitous that you would come here as I can not only address both aforementioned character articles, but all the other Transformer character articles pertaining to G1 instead of hopping from talk page to talk page.

With that said, let me say with all due respect that most of those articles are terrible. They are filled with alot unnecessary fan cruft and lists that weigh down their potential to achieving GA or even FA status.

First off, these articles are suppose to pertain to the G1 character only. Therefore, their's no need to single out G1 in any one section as all the other incarnations were moved to other pages entitled "_________ (other incarnations)". As for other articles that haven't had this treatment like Jazz and Prowl, they should be moved into a "other incarnations" section and made into subsections.

Second, the article headings are ridiculously meager and need to be expanded with a proper introduction that sets up the article all about the character.

Third, the articles all lack the appropriate references to backup the important stuff. The wizard reference for Megatron is not very thorough. It needs a date of release, volume/issue and page numbers.

Fourth every character article needs at least some of the following sections to make a good article which are development/conception, appearance, personality, history, cultural impact/reception, other media appearances, references, and external links. Many of these articles lack some of the aforementioned and some have information scrambled about, Optimus Prime being the worst.

Fifth, Wikipedia is not a buyers guide for Transformer merchandise, it is an encyclopedia. Therefore, toy lists don't belong in any character article as they are unencyclopedic and filled with too much fan cruft. Lists in general are only permitted in disambiguation pages, and articles about music albums, some video games, and article references. The truth is that all animated programs get their own toyline with each character getting represented with some type of figure or doll. So their's nothing notable about the volumes subsequent releases of every single incarnation of every Transformer ever conceived. That's what the individual toyline articles are for. Also it must be taken into consideration that as the years go by more and more toys of individual G1 characters will appear and will only cause the article to get hefty as more editors list them. The only toys that holds notability in the character articles are the original Diaclone and Microman mechas, and their corresponding Transformer reimagings. Which should go into their development/conception section. Others characters like Hot Rod, who's corresponding toy was produced after initial introduction also deserver this treatment in their individual development sections. To astablish why there is difference in the two mediums.

Sixth, the pop culture and other comics sections should be merged into one section call "______ in other media".

Seventh, the honorable mentions of children story books belong in the other media section and don't deserve their own subsection as they are not memberable to be singled out. The only rememberable story book moment for Megatron was in "Marvel Big Looker" book "The Great Car Rally" where he gets behind the wheel of a black convertible and shoots at the competing Autobots as seen here, but that in itself is a trivial matter.

I have looked at them, but this is still relatively new for me in the sense of using other forms of tagging. This what I have <ref name="ChaLaLyrics">[http://www.daizex.com/multimedia/lyrics/jap-cha_la_head_cha_la.html lyric and some information to Cha-La Head-Cha-La]</ref>, <ref name="ChaLaLyrics">, and <ref>[http://www.lantis.jp/new-release/data.php?id=8caacd2ed0e617dd4a8a2e2d2012866d Lantis' page for Lucky Star parody]</ref> tags in the article. I did a test by removing one of the <ref name="ChaLaLyrics"> tags to see if some of the content returned, but nothing. So I'm back to square one. I got the <ref name="ChaLaLyrics"> tag from the Infinite World article which was a <ref name="TienVsCell"> tag that I alterated. Sarujo (talk) 20:40, 11 September 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading Image:BT-Elvis.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box.
