David Gordon Mundell (born 27 May 1962 in Dumfries) is the Shadow Secretary of State for Scotland and a member of the Shadow Cabinet of the Scottish Conservative Party. Whoever wiped all discussion from this forum was wrong and rather high handed, fair enough to remove any foul language, but this is a discussion and everyone is entitled to their opinion, good or bad,you cannot remove it just because you dont agree with it.
Early life
He grew up in Newton Wamphray and Lockerbie. He went to Lockerbie Academy on Dryfe Road in Lockerbie, and studied law at the University of Edinburgh, also gaining a Diploma in Legal Practice. He received an MBA from the University of Strathclyde Business School. He worked as a solicitor then joined BT as Group Legal Advisor for Scotland in 1991. He became BT Scotland's head of national affairs, remaining with BT until becoming an MSP. Mundell was an SDP councillor in Annandale and Eskdale from 1984-6 and on Dumfries and Galloway council for another one until 1987, when a student. He is a member of the Law Society of Scotland and Writers to the Signet.

Quite right the above, we now have a very sanitised version of Portlethen and like it or not it does have its warts.Whoever removed this entire page should have restarted the discussion, Portlethen isnt perfect by any means and all opinions barring foul language should be welcome.Considering the apathetic way that people in portlethen treat the community outside their own four walls I would think any opinion would be better than none.Portlethen has to have the most insular residents I have ever had the misfortune to live beside. Why dont we have a community council, some 8000+ residents and we cant get 10 to man a community council, pathetic. Why is portlethen classed as a TOWN when it doesnt have TOWN facilities. We dont have a TOWN centre we dont have a place where residents could meet up if they could drag their sorry @sses of the sofa. Yes I can criticise the place I live in, its not perfect it has its faults and if the offended on here helped to address those faults then we might have a community that deserved to be called a community. sorry not a golf club wallah.
Mundell was elected to the Scottish Parliament in 1999 and 2003 as a "list" MSP for the South of Scotland.

Exactly what would you class as town facilities? We have stores, schools, a church, community centres, a drop in centre. Yes, we need more. But What Exactly? And as for the rant about the community council? Why dont YOU do something about it, instead of sitting there ranting about something you havent tried to do anything about. In the 2005 general election, Mundell was elected as MP for the Dumfriesshire, Clydesdale and Tweeddale constituency. He is presently the only Conservative MP representing a Scottish constituency. Following his election to Westminster, Mundell resigned from the Scottish Parliament in June 2005. His seat was taken by Derek Brownlee, who was next on the Conservatives' list for the South of Scotland region.

Being the lone Conservative representing a Scottish constituency, Mundell quickly gained public attention relative to newly elected MPs. He was appointed by David Cameron to the Shadow Cabinet as Shadow Secretary of State for Scotland in December 2005.

One DIY store and a supermarket do NOT a town centre make. The drop-in-centre is something of a misnomer, supposedly for kids to "drop-in" but according to those kids I have spoken to there are restrictions on the amount of kids who are allowed to drop-in. Since they started using WIFI the numbers allowed in have been cut to single figures. The cinema evenings cancelled before they even started????What community centres exactly, where can people over a certain age meet up for a chat. As for the community council have you done anything because you sure as h*ll don't know what I have been doing. When people in Portlethen talk about going into town they head for Aberdeen, not the Asda carpark. You two are spot on. When I first read the entry for Portlethen I couldn’t believe how poor it was; I deleted verbiage and added some information that made the entry less one-sided. To take one example, I don’t believe that anyone could objectively say that Portlethen is well served by public transport. Portlethen is a town built for motorists and if you don’t have a car it is not easy to get around. What was the response to my comments? They were summarily deleted and I was shouted down by people who only wanted to “promote” Portlethen. Encyclopaedias don’t promote: that’s the job of the tourist board.

I have noted with interest the recent entries and how their authors have been treated in the same manner that I was. Moderate criticism is deleted by po-faced Muppets and the critic is left with no alternative but to take the Mickey and annoy the lemon-sucking Calvinists who won’t tolerate criticism. Whoever deleted the discussion board hit a new low of fascist intolerance. Now we aren’t even allowed to discuss entries? This is totally contrary to the spirit of Wikipedia. In my opinion, these joyless fanatics are far more objectionable than schoolboy pranksters writing about child molesters.

Beg to differ Fraslet, if your idea of "discussion" is to blank the "discussion" page and thereby
obliterating all points of view then Zorro whom in the past I have taken great exception to has my full support in what he/she states on here. I agree that bad language and idiotic posts about child molesters should be obliterated along with the people who made them.
I stand by what I said in my previous post. Lets hear what you do to promote Portlethen Fraslet other than support the golf club.I would post on the article my opinions but will have the good manners to keep them on here. Portlethen could be a great place to live, we have the flagship of schools just opened, but trying to get residents motivated in anything is a thankless task, must be the fumes from the meat factory. I remember the fight to keep Portlethen Primary where it is and tried to get support from Fishermoss parents and staff only to be told its not our fight, now theres community spirit for you.27/01/07 Dumbledorf

Reading with interest now as most of the garbage posted previously was very offputting, note the comments about not having a community council, there used to be a website for same,is there
another avenue available other than wikipedia where portlethen can be discussed without censorship.

I believe there is but I appear unable to find it Dumbledorf 15:19, 9 September 2007 (UTC) 23:23, 11 February 2007 (UTC)

I see that the drop in centre has opened for one night a week and that the proposed cinema in the school auditorium was cancelled before its first showing.I dont think there is a website well not since the PDCC one was taken off-line.

Who on earth is editing the information on schools, the Academy information is ridiculous, the school built in 1987 has been demolished and we now have a state of the art Academy. <small>—Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.108.88.157 (talk) 08:28, 18 April 2008 (UTC)</small><!-- Template:UnsignedIP --> <!--Autosigned by SineBot-->

And "who on earth" told you that the new Academy was "state of the art"? A Politician no doubt. The new Academy is, like all PPI projects, built to a poor standard so that it will be ready for the wrecking ball when the Lease comes to an end. Plonkers like you let councilors and governement ministers get away with murder. Wikipedia is not there to repeat propoganda: it's meant to be objective. The only time Portlethen Academy has been in the news was when Guidance Teacher Bill Fraser was done for having kiddie porn and that has been censored. Why? ZORRO.
Why do you think a pornographic teacher merits a mention.I agree with the person complaining about the editing, there is no need for the old academy to be in this article. <span style="font-size: smaller;" class="autosigned">—Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.108.89.132 (talk) 16:10, 7 October 2008 (UTC)</span><!-- Template:UnsignedIP --> <!--Autosigned by SineBot-->
