The Yenko Super Camaro was a modified Chevrolet Camaro prepared by Yenko Chevrolet, under the command of Don Yenko. The originals were all first-generation Camaros. When the Camaro debuted, a General Motors corporate edict prevented it from carrying an engine larger than 400 in³ (6.6 L) V8; this put the Camaro at a serious disadvantage to the Ford Mustang and Plymouth Barracuda, since neither Ford nor Plymouth had a such a limit. Don Yenko, however, knew there was a market for an ultra powerful Camaro and found ways around the GM limit.

Hello
As you have made comments of the discussion page of the TomKat article, it would be greatly appreciated if you would contribute to the debate on it's Articles for Deletion page. Thanks!

Jerry teps asked that page be unprotected. You had protected it on Aug. 18, for 10 days. Since it was going to expire anyways, I decided to unprotect it early, as it was a simple semi-protect to stop IP vandalism. == Accusation of vandalism on Sarah Palin article ==

On my talk page, you accuse me of vandalism. Please explain. I had deleted a paragraph about Ted Stevens' 527 group in the Sarah Palin article because this same info was duplicated in the subsequent section, two paragraphs down. I explained in my edit that I deleted the paragraph because it was "redundant". Also, it seemed not to be relevant to her job as "Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commissioner", which is the section I removed it from.

I think the vandalism charge is serious and hope that this is the result of a misunderstanding. In this case, it's also somewhat baffling since I wrote most of the info in the Sarah Palin article about the relationship between Stevens and Palin, and, although I did not originate this particular piece, I simply incorporated into the rest of the Ted Stevens section. Hi Jossi. In this edit of yours, did you mean to revert the edits in the section on the Dismissal of the Public Safety Commissioner? You are probably not aware of it, but the protection was discussed on AN and there was consensus to full protect. Jossi,

Please reconsider. WP:IAR should not be used in cases where there’s currently a clear consensus of good faith, intelligent editors against your position, and even worse, where there’s already a recent history of alternating admin actions. I just don’t see how this can possibly be anything but a wheel war. “Repeating an admin action when you know others disagree”. Assume, just for the sake of argument, that you might be wrong about this. What are we supposed to do? If there’s already been a long discussion, with about 14 editors in favor of full protection for 48 hours or more, do we have to restart the discussion because you disagree? Do we quite simply have to bow to your opinion because you’re willing to wheel war and others aren’t? How can we function if you’re going to claim “IAR” when consensus is clearly against you?

The system we’ve got only works when we respect consensus. If we all start wheel warring when we “know we’re right”, then we’re screwed. Convince other people first, then act. "Being right" should no more be a defense than it is in a content-dispute edit war.

Please restore full protection, per consensus, and if consensus changes later, then change it. Please. --barneca (talk) 15:21, 4 September 2008 (UTC)
::(ec)Jossi, I think this might be a time to hold back a little. My reading of consensus is that the page should be protected for now. I think it would be best if you step away from editing that article if you're going to make edits that do not reflect a consensus. I know I know, something as simple as this shouldn't really require a huge debate, but, there have been two discussions about it already, both of which resulted in leaving the large tag - so what you did was against a consensus. I'm sure you want to avoid any drama you can, and being a party in an Arbitration case probably doesn't sound the greatest to you. As a side note, I think the small one is best, but being bold on that article isn't going to help things. Not now, anyways. Just a friendly suggestion; feel free to just ignore me. Hi Jossi, I would like to convert the references in the Sahaj Marg page to a format where they're not listed separately each time they're cited as a source in the text. I've found this but am very confused about how to use it. Do I just insert the bracketed "cite book" or "cite journal" in the article, save, and then go back in and fill in the blanks? : Create a section called "References" and list there all the sources using cite, one per source. Then create a section called "Notes" in which you would place the reflist. == For the record ==
Yenko ordered L-78 equipped SS Camaros and swapped in the Chevrolet Corvette's L-72 427 in³ (7.0 L) V8. The cars came with a 4.10 rear end and heavy-duty suspension. The exact number of cars produced is not known; most estimates are around 50. Yenko also installed a fiberglass replacement hood similar to the "Stinger" hood featured on 1967 big-block Corvettes.

Don Yenko's Camaros were equipped with a 427ci L-72 in them with either an M21 or M22 transmission. The horsepower was rated at 423 hp. Yenko Camaros were not allowed to race for Chevrolet on the drag strip because they were not made by Chevrolet. Chevy's answer to this was the Copo Camaro, or Central Office Production Order, in 1968. The Copo Camaros were equipped with the same 427ci engine and were allowed to race for Chevy.
I understand you will not think this was the ideal solution, but as 1) there was at best no consensus on the talk page as to this content's appropriateness on the political position page; 2) a gesture of good faith per your request, I made this edit on her main talk page. Per there being no deadline, I imagine sources will be found which would make this material fit back on the position page, and then it can be consolidated in a way agreeable to all. Thanks for considering. Baccyak4H (Yak!) 21:11, 8 September 2008 (UTC)

Your comment on Kelly's talk page
Encouraged by the success of the 1967 model, Yenko continued to produce his Camaros. All cars came equipped with the M-21 close-ratio four speed manual transmission. A large, twin-scooped hood replaced the "Stinger" version, and Yenko badges graced the sides and tail light plate.

Not helping, borderline baiting. Let Kelly save some face please.--Tznkai (talk) 02:42, 9 September 2008 (UTC)
For 1969, the dealership worked with Chevrolet to have the L-72 engines installed on the factory assembly line using a Central Office Production Order, or COPO. The orders included power disc brakes, a 4.10 Positraction rear end, a stronger front stabilizer, and a heavy-duty 4-core aluminum radiator. Buyers of the car had the option of either the M-21 four speed or the Turbo Hydramatic 400 automatic transmission. A total of 201 cars were sold in 1969, 171 with four speed transmissions and 30 with automatic transmissions. Yenko rounded out the visual package with front and rear spoilers, a cowl-induction hood, special "Yenko 427" badges, twin stripes down the flanks and hood, and the sYc (Yenko Super Car) badge.

Almost 40 years later, these Camaros have been appraised and sold for well over $2.2 million USD at Barrett-Jackson auctions.
Jossi, for what it's worth, I sympathize with some of your thoughts on the Sarah Palin page. As you know, I made one contribution to the page based on LexisNexis and Factiva research results of multiple reliable sources verifying information and it was disregarded because some editors felt it was "not notable" -- apparently, The Washington Post, NPR, and other major news sources disagreed with their judgment but that didn't give anyone pause. Meanwhile, it seems that a handful of editors have discovered the power of WP:CONSENSUS to circumvent WP:NPOV, WP:NOR, and WP:V -- not to mention widely accepted guidelines like WP:RS. I'm disappointed with some of the unhelpful comments and decisions that were made on that talk page. WP:BLP, for example, was never intended to be used for political purposes to remove inconveniently sourced facts. It was a policy established to remove clear cases of libel (rare as they may be to prove), unsourced malicious comments, and harm to innocent third-parties too young to defend themselves. In any case, you have at least the respect of one other editor on Wikipedia. As for me, I'm going to stay away from the page for a while. Keep up the good work. It doesn't go unnoticed. From a performance standpoint, cars have shown a slow but steady decline in the last ten years. Low compression engines to accommodate low octane fuel, are now the norm. Ever-increasing numbers of emissions controls have sapped their share of horsepower from once potent engines. To recover these accumulated horsepower losses without increasing pollution presents a real challenge. After months of testing and development we have done it. Working closely with some competent people at Turbo International a system emerged that does everything we hoped for. This system, like all others, captures the energy to improve the induction of fuel/air mixture. The similarity to the other systems stops right here. Our system uses no priority valve so there's no turbo-lag. We don't have a waste gate to malfunction either. And since all of the fuel entering the engine is "processed" through the turbo, you get better fuel economy and improved response even without being in boost. Every nut, bolt and fitting used in this system is the best available. This has all been developed with each and every emission control connected and functional.

I just noticed that User Cirt has been nominated for adminship. This person used to have the username Smeelgova and Smee. In the nomination, the reference previous user accounts and blocks say that it was for edit warring but not incivility. I was in a number of interactions with Smeelgova/Smee. Cirt coresponded extensively with the editor pax arcane who became very beligerant on the Landmark Education Page. http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk:Cirt&diff=prev&oldid=210888820 .

Recently a company out of North Carolina called Classic Automotive Restoration Specialists has restarted production of the '69 Yenko Camaro. Don Yenko sold 201 of his infamous COPO-program Camaros out of his Canonsburg,PA dealership. As reported in the March '08 issue of Muscle Car Review the vehicle is a fully licensed and certified Yenko starting at #202. The 427 engine under the hood was built by GM who has brought back the big block engines from the muscle car era. The rest of the components took 2 1/2 years to track down the original machinery. Options offered on the vehicle are the same as was available back in 1969 including paint colors. The car costs around 60% less than some of the current 39-year old Yenko Camaro survivors but drives like an old car would have when it was new off the Canonsburg, PA dealership.

1967

Yenko ordered L-78 equipped SS Camaros and swapped in the Chevrolet Corvette's L-72 427 in³ (7.0 L) V8. The cars came with a 4.10 rear end and heavy-duty suspension. The exact number of cars produced is not known; most estimates are around 50. Yenko also installed a fiberglass replacement hood similar to the "Stinger" hood featured on 1967 big-block Corvettes.

Don Yenko's Camaros were equipped with a 427ci L-72 in them with either an M21 or M22 transmission. The horsepower was rated at 423 hp (315 kW).

1968

Encouraged by the success of the 1967 model, Yenko continued to produce his Camaros. All cars came equipped with the M-21 close-ratio four speed manual transmission. A large, twin-scooped hood replaced the "Stinger" version, and Yenko badges graced the sides and tail light plate.

1969

As of sep 2008, there are 2 known automatic transmission 1969 Yenko Camaro's. as stated by ESPN auction show.

1981 was Don Yenko's last run at making the ultimate performance car.

The 1981 Yenko Turbo Z, as it was known as, was based on a 1981 Camaro.
