Dix Township is one of twelve townships in Ford County, Illinois, USA. As of the 2020 census, its population was 598 and it contained 268 housing units.[1]

History[edit]

Dix Township was originally named Drummer Grove Township; on September 2, 1864 it was renamed named in honor of John Adams Dix.[2]

According to the 2021 census gazetteer files, Dix Township has a total area of 54.00 square miles (139.86 km2), of which 53.95 square miles (139.73 km2) (or 99.90%) is land and 0.06 square miles (0.16 km2) (or 0.10%) is water.[3]

The racial makeup of the township was 95.65% White, 0.17% African American, 0.33% Native American, 0.50% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.33% from other races, and 3.01% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.67% of the population.
