Chinese R&B is R&B (Rhythm and Blues) music from Chinese artists who mainly sing in mandarin.
There are two main variants. The first one is contemporary pop yet heavily influenced by elements of R&B and is mixed with other genres such as rock, rap, hip-hop, western and chinese classical music. Main artists includes Jay Chou, David Tao and Wang Lee Hom. The second variant is contemporary R&B and soul which does not contain any or little influence from other unrelated genres. This variant is rarer in recent chinese pop scene as compared to former variant. After being pioneered by Alex To in the 90s, and occasionally featured in signature hits by David Tao such as Airport 10:30, it has seen emergence in music by Khalil Fong from Hongkong.
