==Why It's Called Beaverton==

Becton Regional High School has always been known as "Becton" or "Henry P." but a short while ago, that changed. In late December of the year 2006, it was discovered that two rabid Canadian Beavers had made their home on a grassy, tree covered patch of land near the fence of the school. When the two animals were discovered, TYCO was called and they were removed. The beavers went calmly and no one was injured durring the relocation process. The beavers apparently made their way from the Meadowlands to the school in the cold, December month. Because of it's confrontation with the two rabid Canadian Beavers, Becton Regional High School is lovingly referred to as "Beaverton."

A variety of subjects is offered to prepare those students who plan to continue their education beyond high school and for those students who may seek employment directly upon completing high school. Through curricular offerings, extra curricular activities including a full athletic program for boys and girls, counseling, and special education services, the district aims to assist each pupil in achieving his/her goals, developing character and recognizing responsibility. Becton Regional High School offers a college preparatory program which includes several Advanced Placement Program (AP) classes, and career-oriented curriculum areas.

In order to graduate, the state of New Jersey requires that students pass the eleventh grade New Jersey High School Proficiency Assessment (HSPA). Furthermore, Becton requires that students earn a minimum of 140 academic credits during their four years of high school to graduate.

Extracurricular activities

The school mascot is the Wildcat, and the school's colors are maroon and white. The school's newspaper is the weekly Cat's Eye View, and the yearbook is the Tealeaf. The school also publishes Images of Drew, an annual art and literary magazine. The school participates in the BCSL National athletic conference.
