"Battle-Dib"

Battle-Dib is an episode of Invader Zim, produced and aired as episode 6B, on May 4, 2001.

Plot

Dib is to present his findings on Zim to the Swollen Eyeball Network in a meeting, but needs his father to sign a permission slip. However, he has to be on his father (Professor Membrane)'s television show to get him to sign the slip, and goes through several tasks (including a battle with Shunk Wugga and a verbal quiz) for the audience, thwarted several times by the vengeful Gaz, who is angry at him for eating her pizza slice.

Finally, he gets to Professor Membrane, who does not recognize him, and Dib is thrown out into an alley. Luckily, Membrane inadvertenly signs the slip anyway. Dib is overjoyed, and runs off to the meeting. About to make his presentation, he realizes he has forgotten his laptop...

Trivia

• The Stewie-like baby appears at the beginning of the episode.
• The first episode of Invader Zim where Zim does not make an appearance or only appears briefly and Dib has a solo adventure. This scenario was repeated in Game Slave 2 and The Sad, Sad Tale of Chickenfoot.
• Gaz reveals her obsession with pizza.
• This marks the first episode to feature Prof. Membrane's TV show.
• A kid bearing South Park-like eyeballs can be seen in this episode.
• Some of Dib's classmates can be seen taking the first test including Zootch, Rob, and Gretchen.
• The final score was: Shunk: 2, Dib: 1.
• The patterns on Dib and Shunk's chest could be a reference to TRON while the arena was based off the Thunderdome from Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome.
