Experimental Thrash Metal

Experimental Thrash Metal is an umbrella term for certain subgenres and fusion genres of thrash metal that are more experimental. It was created and popularized by Anonymos in mid-2006.

Sound

Experimental Thrash Metal is basically thrash metal with an experimental edge, incorporating odd time signatures and changes in tempo and time signature.

Subgenres/Fusion Genres

Alternative Thrash Metal

Alternative Thrash Metal, also called Alt-Thrash or AlternaThrash, is a fusion of thrash metal and alternative metal. AlternaThrash's riffs arent as "heavy" as they are in normal thrash metal, and there is a level of experimentation, although its not as much as in other Experimental Thrash subgenres.

Progressive Thrash Metal

Progressive Thrash Metal, or Prog Thrash, is a fusion genre that incorporates elements of thrash metal and progressive metal. High levels of experimentation is the defining trait, as things such as odd time signatures and changes in tempo and time signature are commonly used.

Avant-Garde Thrash Metal

Avant-Garde Thrash Metal, or Avant-Thrash, is a fusion of thrash metal and avant-garde metal. It is defined by the use of instruments that would be considered odd or unusual in metal.

Mathrash

Mathrash, also called Technical Thrash or Tech Thrash, is thrash metal that focuses on technicality and musicmanship. It is often confued with Alternative Thrash Metal due to the fact that both genres have the same level of experimentation, but Mathrash is heavier and more technical.
