Centre of the village is the The Four Winds Bar and Lounge. Surrounding the village are some of the most elegant housing to be seen in West Cork, a beautiful little church and no other then a rehabilitation centre for youths. Property values in this area increased by a factor of 3000%{{Fact|date=March 2007}} in the last three years alone due to the movement of more affluent people from the city who are setting up home in this quiet, picturesque, crime-free environment. The local GAA club Oliver Plunketts, have of recent years progressed to Junior A level in Hurling. At this level they have competed well against the more experienced teams of West Cork such as Ballinascarthy and Clonakilty, however, they have yet to overcome the challenge of the current champions, [[Barryroe GAA|Barryroe]].Also the U14 football team, carried by Nickey,Connor,Matthew and numerous others,have had condiderable success, winning all but one of their football and losing most of their hurling matches so far this year.However,results for the under 16 team have been mixed,who despite having a talented panel,including such players as "Crow" and "Shtevy" and "Dinny", But none of these talent blokes possess such skill and and flair as mid-fielder "Aidan Coffey" who litrally carried the team to an impreesive 2 outa 5 victories in the league. Since this amazing record "Aidan" has been called up by the "Carbery U15" team. Which also includes such talents as John Kearney from the massive parish of Kilbrittain which is such a ledgenary place.Kilbrittain continue to punch above thier weight,due to such players as Nichol-anus O'Donovan,"Wee" Deccie Harrington and the gifted,if slow in the head,Cornelius "Chris" Hickey.Despite losing the recent U14 West Cork football final against Clann na Gael, "The Hicksinator" excelled scoring roughly 142% of their scores.COME ON THE PLUNKETTS!!!!!!!!!!!!
