Pasadena Memorial High School

Pasadena Memorial High School (PMHS) is a secondary school located on Crenshaw Street in Pasadena, Texas.

The school serves grades 9 through 12 and is a part of the Pasadena Independent School District. It is sometimes referred simply as "Memorial" to differentiate it from nearby Pasadena High School.

The school colors are teal, black, and gold and the school mascots are Roxy and Renegade the Mavericks.

The current principal is Billye Smith.

The Class of 2006 was Memorial's first graduating class [1].

History

The school opened in 2003 [2] to relieve Sam Rayburn High School and South Houston High School [3]. Its first graduating class graduated in May 2006.

PMHS Expansion

Since the opening of the school, district officials contemplated expanding the school. A week before the end of the first semester in 2006, the school opened a new wing adjacent to the mathematics hall that houses English teachers. The original plan for this wing was for it to be the Freshman Academy, where all freshmen would attend class. The Freshman Academy was moved to the old English hall, thus forcing the move of the English teachers. PMHS also built a new field house for its sports program right off the south parking lot. [4].

Neighborhoods served by Pasadena Memorial

The school [5], serves portions of the city of Pasadena (including Strawberry Glen [6]) and small sections of Houston around Ellington Field, including Genoa Township, Southway Gardens, and Gulf Palms.

School uniforms

As of 2006, all Pasadena Memorial High School students are required to wear standardized dress, as required by the PISD district guidelines (which includes blue and white polo or oxford shirts, and jeans, khaki or navy slacks—no shorts or capris). PMHS students are also allowed to wear black or gray shirts.[7].

Trading Post

The trading post is the PMHS school store, where students can buy different kinds of spirit shirts and other school related materials.

MAVision

MAVision is a student produced announcement show which airs fourth period every day. The purpose of MAVision is to inform students and help build a school community.
