KREW stood for kings, ruling, every, where. The name has it's roots in graffiti writing, (a king means a top writer).The KREW became entrenched in NY hip hop through their time living on usaf (us air forces) bases round the country. They also befriended DJ Afrikka Bambatta, (the master of records) in 1982 on his first ever uk/eu tour. These early influences helped them as to be the best, if not the only real hip hop crew ie;Dj's rappers,graffiti artists, break dancers(b boys), in the uk. |

Newtrament was a DJ in London credited with releasing the first ever British hip hop record in the UK.
Newtrament started out working with a band, Krew, getting involved in the new electronic music and breakdancing. In 1983, he recorded London Bridge is Falling Down (Jive, 1983). Although the pioneer of an entire genre of recorded music, Newtrament doesn't appear to have recorded anything else since then.
