Interstate 92 is a proposed east-west corridor in New England. The highway was to run through New England along the U.S. Route 4 corridor in Vermont and New Hampshire. The original plans for the highway were canceled in the mid 1970s; however, the plan got renewed support from the Maine Department of Transportation and the Government of Canada in 1999. Although the highway has not officially been designated a number, it has frequently been called Interstate 92 by the media and supporters.

The East-West Highway is a long-proposed east-west corridor in northern New England and especially Maine. Earlier studies involved an extension west through New Hampshire and Vermont, possibly incorporating the U.S. Route 4 freeway west of Rutland, Vermont. In 1970, these three states and New York submitted two corridors - Albany, New York to Portsmouth, New Hampshire and Glens Falls, New York to Calais, Maine - for inclusion in the Interstate Highway System, but the Federal Highway Administration did not approve the plan. In 1999, the Maine Department of Transportation completed a study on a similar highway.
