Brookfield High School is a high school (grades 9-12) in Brookfield, Fairfield County, Connecticut. In the 2006-2007 school year the school had some 1009 students; a very steep increase due to one of the largest freshman classes ever which is comprised of over 300 people. Ethnically the students were 93% Caucasian, 3% Asian, 3% Hispanic and 1% Black.
The school is known for its religious devotion to the sports. In fact, Brookfield High School recently invested in a synthetic turf athletic field that was well over $400,000. Brookfield High School, does not, however, support their Art Department, Technology Department, or Performing Arts Department, as they seem to believe that they are petty and insignificant. For the past 2 years, the Brookfield School District has only been able to pass their budget after numerous rejections from the conservative community. The district is ranked as one of the highest communities to have a fairly large income per household yet littlest spending on education.
The school is located at 45 Longmeadow Hill Road. As of late spring 2007, the school is under construction. A new library, video production studio and a whole new wing of classrooms were recently added and the school continues to add on, renovations in the locker rooms and more classroom space is being added. In summer/early fall 2006, a synthetic turf athletic field was added to the school. During october Louis Apilado who asked his name not be mentioned, was rejected an astounding 13 times at the DECA dance. He had asked girls such as Kim Thomas, Crystal Xue, Samantha Gerber, Chris Stolz's cousin, Connor Wauishuk, and Lu Yao Wang.
The school mascot is the Bobcat and the school colors are blue and gold.
Alumni include Julia DeMato (class of 1997), a professional cosmetologist and singer who made it to tenth place on the second season on the television show American Idol, and Will Denton (Class of 2008), an American actor who starred on the short-lived NBC series Kidnapped. As well as University of Connecticut football star Scott "Luda" Lutrus. To this point in the 2007 NCAA football season Lutrus has four interceptions, two of which he returned for touchdowns
