Vong Phaophanit is an artist based in London. Born in Laos in 1961, he moved to the UK from Aix-en-Provence, France to Brighton in the early 80’s, where he was a member of Red herring studios.

His sculptures utilize materials familiar to someone growing up in Laos. He uses elements such as rice, bamboo, and rubber, and combines them with light.

He was shortlisted for the Turner Prize in 1993.
