Bamboo Shoots is an alternative dance-rock band from New York City. Selected as mtvU's Artist of the Year for Best Music on Campus, the quintet signed with Epic Records and performed on Late Night With Conan O'Brien in May 2007. The band is known for its smart guitar hooks, heavy and danceable rhythm section, and its multicultural identity and influence

After touring with Plain White T's as part of mtvU's Summer Concert Series, the band has been recording its first major-label album in California with producer Jerry Harrison from Talking Heads.

Formed in 2004, the band consists of long-time friends Avir Mitra (lead vocals, guitar) and Karl Sukhia (backup vocals, bass and keyboards), the group's primary songwriters and musical collaborators for more than a decade. They are joined by Shiv Puri (drums), Ankur Patel (dhol, tabla and percussion) and Ahmed Mahmmoud (lead guitar).
