Present: At present Hetman Bialystok also known as Gwardia Bialystok plays in the IV (4th) League, Division of Podlaskie Wojewodztwo (Voyvodship), and occupies the 11th position with 16 points for 4 wins, 4 ties, and 8 defeats (3—points a win) out of 16 teams. [Foot note # 1]

Hetman (Gwardia) Bialystok has survived the transfer from the semi--centralized economy of the Polish liberal form of Communist Oligarchy to the fully private economy better than other clubs from the Polish North—East known as Podlasie. Wlokniarz Bialystok was not so fortunate: it plays in the “V (5th) League” or KOS (highest local division) and occupies the 13th place out of 16 teams with 17 points for 5 wins, 2 ties, and 11 defeats. [Foot note # 1]

Past: Gwardia Bialystok was the 1st team from Bialystok, after the World War Two, to advance to the II (2nd) League, but survived only one season (1951-1952) and was relegated to the III (3rd) League. Afterwards, it was Wlokniarz Bialystok, and in the end, Jagiellonia Bialystok that did advance to the II (2nd ) League; in the case of Jagiellonia, the club has made it to the I (1st) League (soon to become Extraclass or Ekstraklasa). After the fall of the Communist Oligarchy during the late 1980's and early 1990's, Hetman Bialystok, as did all teams from Bialystok, suffered financially and suffered relegation as well. In the mean time, the club changed its name from Gwardia to Hetman. The downfall was halted in the IV (4th ) League.
